Bulbasaur Crochet Pattern

The pokemon craze is still around the corner! The pikachu pattern I posted last week was seriously the biggest hit, it has 500 views in a few first hours of publishing. Thank you so much guys, I was really surprised and happy. Therefore, here is a little gift for you! 🙂 He is absolutely tiny (barely 6 cm long) yet so squishy! Also, since I got an input that not everyone could crochet I will make this guy available in my etsy shop (button on the right side of the page).

  1. Rico Baby cotton yarn 50 g/125 m in thoska green/medium blue
  2. Rico Baby cotton yarn 50 g/125 in dark green
  3. 3 mm crochet hook
  4. Polyester fiberfill
  5. A pair of 6 mm black craft eyes
  6. Craft glue

ch: chain

sc: stitch

inc: increase

inv dec: invisible decrease

hdc: half double crochet

dc: double crochet

tc: triple crochet

2tc: double-triple crochet (three times yarn wrap on needle)

FO: Fasten off

The pattern is basically the same like the pikachu head I posted the week before. You can find it here by omitting the tenth round/R10 (means you only do one time sc around instead of twice).

R1: MR (6)

R2: inc (12)

R3: sc, inc (18)

R4: *ch 1. To the next ch, make: hdc, dc, tc, 2tc, tc, dc, hdc. Sl st to the next ch. This creates one petal. Repeat from* 3 more times.

Leave extra long tail for sewing.

This is how it looks when the crocheting phase is done. It looks like a four leaf clover, but you will sew it together and stuff it later.

R1: MR (5)

R2: inc

R3: sc, inc

R4-6: sc around

R7: sc, inv dec

FO and leave long tail for sewing

ch 3, hdc to second ch from hook, dc the last.

Using crochet on the surface technique, slip in your loop (see how).

Ch 3. hdc on second ch from hook. Dc in last ch. Sl st to place. FO and weave in.

Again, using crochet on the surface technique.

Ch 1. To the next ch: sc, hdc, sc. Sl st to the next ch. FO and weave in.

Place the eyes before making the ears. Stitch together the head and body. For the bud on the back, sew the first three petals together. Leave the last petal half open and stuff lightly, sew close then sew to the back.

Optional: blush the cheeks lightly with your chosen cosmetic supply.
